How it is computed
Volumetric weight in kg is length × breadth × height / 5000, with dimensions in centimetres. That /5000 divisor is the standard used by most Indian couriers and aggregators, including Shiprocket. The applied weight is the higher of the actual weight and the volumetric weight, and couriers then round it up to the next 500 g slab for billing.
If a courier bills you on a weight higher than this applied weight, that difference is a weight discrepancy, and on most platforms you have only days to dispute it.
